Building a prospect list can be quite time consuming, but it’s a necessity when it comes to growing your business and meeting your sales goals by reaching out to high quality leads. To make the process easier, we put together this step-by-step guide on how to create a prospect list for email outreach campaigns.
STEP 1: DEFINE YOUR IDEAL PROSPECTS
To build a list for your outreach campaign, you first need to define the prospects you want to target. Decide the industries, company sizes, and titles of people that would be the best to reach out to based on what you’re offering.
STEP 2: FIND QUALITY CONTACTS
LinkedIn Sales Navigator is an effective tool to search for leads who match all the criteria you want to target. For a reference on how to use Sales Navigator, check out this blog post.
STEP 3: ADD LEADS TO SEAMLESS
You need to have Seamless.AI integrated with your LinkedIn for this step. In your prospect search results, you can see the Find button next to each prospect.
Clicking Find adds that prospect’s contact information to your Seamless account. Using Find All at the top of search results will add the contact info for every prospect on that page and the Next button just goes to the next page of the search results. All the collected prospect info will appear under My Contacts in Seamless.
You can then download all the leads from Seamless as a CSV file. Use Download All (RAW) so the downloaded CSV file includes all the contact info collected.
The raw CSV file will include a ton of information for each lead like company name, location, and website link along with the lead’s email address. You can go through the file and delete the columns you don’t need, but we recommend keeping first name, title, and company name with the email addresses so you can personalize the emails.
STEP 4: CHECK THAT EMAIL ADDRESSES ARE ACCURATE AND CLEAN
To ensure that you have valid email addresses, you should run that downloaded list of prospects through a list cleaner. There are several cleaners available, like NeverBounce, Zero Bounce, and Kickbox, all with different pricing and service options. These list cleaners will tell you which email addresses are invalid and unverifiable to increase your deliverability and open rates. NeverBounce, for example, shows validation results like this.
You can then download this list version to include only the valid email addresses.
